Transportation Safety Consortium (TSC) - The Drug and Alcohol Consortium

TSC is a drug and alcohol consortium designed to meet the needs of the Transportation Industry. All members receive products and services necessary to comply with the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) drug and alcohol testing regulations. TSC is an affiliate of Safety Transportation Services, Inc.(STS)

STS offers Substance Abuse and Alcohol programs in compliance with DOT regulations. TSC is a convenient and professional way to comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations. TSC is cost-effective by giving carriers operational and insurance reductions. As a TSC member you can be assured that your Substance Abuse and Alcohol programs meet the highest expectancies. TSC members receive:

Certificate of membership

Specimen collection site setup convenient to each member’s location, including issuance of specimen collection kits, and express delivery of specimens to a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) certified lab.

Confidential laboratory testing services, including an initial screen and a confirmation test conducted by a laboratory certified under the “DHHS Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Workplace Drug Testing Programs”.

Medical review of test results by a qualified Medical Review Officer with expertise in substance abuse, alcohol and DOT regulations.

Information to develop an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including substance abuse and alcohol awareness and referral information.

TSC’s computerized system simplifies and insures the compatibility and authenticity of the numerous documents generated during the testing process. The entire process is tracked, so that no one is “lost” in the shuffle. Accurate, complete results are returned to the carrier in the shortest possible time so business routines may be maintained.

TSC will help our clients set up systems whereby test results are properly managed, insuring complete confidentiality. All essential forms, procedures and records will be provided to meet each client’s individual needs.

TSC will monitor the drug and alcohol program for multiple locations to determine its effectiveness and the benefits of a drug and alcohol free workplace.

TSC can provide aid in assessing client drug and alcohol testing programs to determine its effect on employee absenteeism, sick leave, insurance claims, disciplinary actions, hew hires, and return to work. Compliance with DOT regulations should not be the only goal of the program, but also a reduction of costs and an increase in productivity.

TSC provides DOT summary reports that specify information mandated by the Federal Government such as the number of tests by category, the tests results, and disposition of employees with positive test results.

TSC works with each client’s personnel department to ensure proper record keeping in regards to the disposition of employees who test positive.
